The Birth of a Website

We started building our own website a few weeks ago and it has been morphing on a daily basis.  We have been learning as we go and making changes to enhance our customer's shopping experience.  We hope you enjoy the enhancements that have been made over the past week.  We have added an information page to each of our baskets that includes a photo of the basket contents.

The basket shown here is one of three new baskets we have created  this weekend and have been working on adding to our site.  This is a miniture oval wicker basket with handle filled with doggie treats and toys.  We have also created a miniture oval wicker basket with handle that we have filled with kitty toys and catnip and  a cat dish that we have filled with a variety of toys.

In other news, we used the $50 Facebook credit we received for purchasing our website to post an ad this weekend promoting our Facebook Fan Page for Pawtastic Baskets and our website.  We welcome all of our new fans.  We are glad you have joined us and hope you enjoy following us on Facebook.

A Message From Our First Customer

Miko, co-owner of Pawtastic Baskets

When I started Pawtastic Baskets, I wanted to create handcrafted gift baskets that people could share with their four-legged family and furriends to celebrate their special occasions.  As with any new venture, I was not sure how it would be received.

I ordered gift baskets and product; business cards; and built an Etsy store.  I made up the first basket with a little help from the cats.  That is when I decided they would be my business partners.  Milo was expecially good at helping with the ribbon used to tie on the bow.  Miko posted a  diary entry on his Catster page telling his furriends that I was working on a big surprise starting a business that had to do with Kitties and Doggies and Milo followed that up with a diary entry of his own announcing the store name and letting his furriends know that the store was opened.

One of our dear Catster friends, Tink Alva, and her Mom purchased our first basket.  Today we wanted to share the message we received from them after they received the basket.

The Message dated May 25, 2011:

We got the basket today! The first thing Tink did was to rub her head against it! I don't know if she smelled your kitties, but I've never seen her do that with anything before! She loves the mouses and actually napped on the pillow. She knocked the toys out, and actually played with the busy balls, then tried to curl up and lay down on the basket with the shredding in it. She's also played with the peanuts, and this is her favorite mailing box ever. It's success on a grand scale!!!! Luv, B & T

Since that day, we have decided to build our own website.  We have had great fun designing it and look forward to continuing to work on updates and improvements.  We were even able to link to our blog.

The Building of a Website

After much research and consideration, we decided that Pawtastic Baskets should have its own website. We have spent the past couple of weeks working on  pawtasticbaskets.com.  The site is still under construction but has finally been published.

We would love for you to visit and let us know what you think so far.  We will be continuing work on the site this weekend.  Hoping to refine and add more baskets.

How It Started



"Happy Kitty" Gift Basket

 I took a "Small Business" course when I was in college.  We had to prepare a business plan as part of our grade.  My business plan was for a gift basket company.  I have always wanted to open a gift basket company but just hadn't found my "niche".


Since I am the proud Mom to six cats and two dogs that I love to spoil, I thought it would be nice to offer a product to people like me that love to spoil their four-legged family members.  After much thought and a great deal of research, I decided to open Pawtastic Baskets on May 1, 2011.


You will notice that I use "we" and "our" when talking about the business.  This is in reference to my four-legged co-owners.  My four-legged family members are responsible for treat, toy, and ribbon testing and I have to say they have been doing a great job!!!


The photo you see here is of the first basket we ever made and the first basket sold in our Etsy Store.  We want to thank our great furiend Tink Alva and her Mom for being our very first customers.  We hope you get a great many hours of enjoyment out of your basket full of toys and treats!


We are working on a number of basket designs right now and hope to have new additions to our Store in the near future.
